Orisha Sound candid interview on Global Linkz Radio

Norwegian born international artist and musician Orisha Sound connects with her growing fans worldwide in a candid interview with Empress Skortcher on Global Linkz Radio in Maryland and Dunoon Community Radio (DCR 97.4 FM) in Scotland.
ORISHA SOUND LIVE ON GLOBAL LINKZ RADIO & DCR 97.4 FMOrisha Sound is currently in Jamaica rehearsing for her performance on the upcoming Jazz and Blues Festival with popular Jamaican Dancehall artist Beenie Man. The duo recently launched a new music video for their new head turning single “World War Three” on January 17th, 2014. Fans will be able to see the duo live on Thursday January 30th at the festival Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium.

Like many who may have been cautious in listening to the song based on its title, Empress Skortcher expressed not being sure “World War Three” was the type of music she wanted to listen to assuming it was a song about “War.” This led to Orisha Sound sharing insight on the inspiration for the song from both her and Beenie Man’s perspective while adding, “there is no peace without war, there is no war without peace.”

She spoke passionately of the melodies and the instruments involved in the project. The artist also explained that there are three different mixes for “World War Three” which include the most popular, Dancehall version, an Afrobeat mix and an European flavor mix. “World War Three” was Produced by Shel-K, Josh Stevens & Nitzan “K-Kov” Kaikov for Black and Yellow Entertainment. The song is the first single released to promote Orisha’s upcoming sophomore album in 2014. It is expected to mainly Reggae and Dancehall, unlike her previous album “Cupid” which was more of a fusion of world sounds.

When asked about her other talents including playing over 15 instruments, the artist shared that, “actually I was a musician first of all, you know and I started really really young. I grow playing music and singing music uuhm, I started when I was 4 years old back in Europe. She touched on her heritage stating that she is “actually Russian and Brazilian mix, I was born in Norwegia and I have some family too in Scandinavia.”

Orisha Sound continued in a very candied way as she described her humble early family life. She expressed that her family was “a very nice nice family, but at the same time you know, very modest you know.” She recounted growing up in a one bed room apartment with her mother, father and sister. The shocker came when Orisha said, “I know my sister was sleeping in the kitchen, she was already older, she was already a teenager when I was born.” In part she said she always had a love for music from the beginning and her family and others saw that.

She was awarded scholarships and other opportunities “as a very very little kid.” She started playing the violin at age 4 before moving on to “keys.” Her first performance was at age 7. However, she shared that her first major break came when at age 9 years old without family, she toured the East Coast, United States performing nightly in various states.

Following her performance at the Jamaican Jazz and Blues Festival, Orsiha Sound will immediately embark on “Three The Hard Way” tour with Dancehall artist Karamanti and singer Anthony Que. The trio will tour various cities in Florida, U.S.A. In February.
